  1. How To Promote Your Band

    June 11, 2011 by Roland

Good bands don’t often get the exposure they need in order to do well. If know one knows you’re a band then basically know one comes to see you play. Without the right exposure and promotion, bands tend to make less money than those that that are constantly playing and in the public eye. An un-promoted band will also have trouble finding their audience, get discouraged and can fall apart. So, how do you promote your band?

In this day and age a band has a tremendous resource for self promotion right at it’s finger tips. This wonderful tool is called the internet. Social websites such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and Stumble can prove priceless. With these sites you can reach thousands of fans with a single click.

So how should you get started on this ride to fame and fortune? Well, lets say you want to start with Facebook. The whole world seems to be familiar with it so it’s as good a starting point as any. Make your band it’s own page. Add stuff to your bands page that will make someone want to go see your band play. You can use this page to help define the bands image and begin to grow the type of audience you wish to have.

If you have video or music clips of your band by all means add these to the page as well. After all, this is why musicians play, to be heard. Continue to add things that let your fans know you are still there and want to play for them.  You can even offer them a custom calender. Monitor your site daily and answer any questions your fans throw at you. Let fans know that there really is a band behind this page and that you appreciate them. Keep them informed.

Once you are comfortable with one social site, move on and make a page on another one. The Beatles took the world by storm through word of mouth promotion, imagine what they could have done with the internet. Your band can be heard all over the world with the click of a mouse. While this is a free tool, it is your most powerful one.
