quack, quack

Goodness! I have to learn how to make this. It's a DUCK scarf. Ducks, tied with giraffes, are my favorite animal. Like, omg, you don't even understand. My nickname is even Dana Duck! OMG. GUYS. I want to make this for David SOOOOOOOOO bad. My mission in life is to learn how on earth to make this darling scarf. He would think I was the biggest weirdo for giving him a duck scarf. Because seriously, who would give an 18-year-old guy a duck scarf? But I don't even care! He might laugh! I'm so excited right now! I need to go buy yarn. And buttons. And did you see that the duck has flappy feet and wings? They move! This is the best thing ever. David, buddy, you are getting a duck scarf. Someday. It probably (no, certainly) won't look like this, because I'm a terrible knitter/crocheter, but I will try my darnedest. Yes, sir.

OMG, he would look like Bjork if he showed up the Grammys wearing a duck scarf!

David would love this scarf. He would smile, giggle, wear it once for sure, and quack a big "thank you" but then probably give it to Amber. Haha, she may hurl it back at him, crying "fowl."

Amy: How about a thread about unique David gifts either given or would like to give? This idea is Dana inspired. I would love a duck scarf from Dana <333

Confession time: I reluctantly declare here and now... my hand in the nutter butter catastrophe.
My future unique David gift would have to be waaayyy better than the first. Yep people.. I am part of the nutter butter problem. See, I was naively thinking when I saw David at the AI tour in SLC that I would be the smart mom (after all I have sons.. and sons LOVE to eat) to get David a couple of treats to enjoy on the bus. No one else would be so swanky and caring. Seriously.. who would be so original? I would help feed his love for nutter butters. Yep.. I would long be remembered for being the nutter butter caring, dying from hunger.. happy that she remembered my tastes fan. Well.. naive (dumb, stupid???) me.. didn't realize that countless other fans felt the call to arms like I did. They saw the gleam in David's eyes. Off to Target I went. I even gave the blessed nutter butters in a swanky bag. David would love walls. (Side note here..Walls son's don't even get theirs on a plate for heaven's sake, let alone a swanky anything :D ) David acted happy. I was happy. Mission accomplished. Then that fateful day when David was interviewed and asked about fan gifts. He started to mention nutter butters.. I perked up. David had noticed my devotion to filling his desire for nutter butters. David said he had been given A LOT of nutter butters. He didn't want to get sick of them! AAACCCKKK... horror of horrors. Shame for shame.. I failed!! I am lame! I am unoriginal! I am not unique! I now realize I should have been more crafty.. maybe a nut cracker to match the cherry pitter? All I know is that I wanted to be unique and let David know that I adore him completely. There.. done. Unfortunately, my gift was anything but unique *sigh* So Dana.. take that yarn and crochet till your fingers bleed. YOUR DUCK SCARF IS <333

walls you gave David nutter butters way before he had been given too many. He loved them then, early in the tour. So all is well.

Hey walls ♥

Well, little beene and I gave him the Elvis shades which were received with a great big "huh"? (That may have, in part, been due to the fact that little beene was wearing a pair herself. I thought it was hilarious. In retrospect, it was odd. He was confused.)

I should rephrase part of my last post:

...which were received with a great big POLITE "huh"?

...not to mention the "slap yo' mama" tee shirt ... oh yikes, it's all coming back to me now. I'm so embarrassed. (beebee is partially to blame for the tee - she egged me on!)

walls, when I go back to Memphis for a visit, I will be CERTAIN to get you a "slap yo' mama" shirt!

We will definitely need a chaperone, I think, when we get together. Maybe our kids will keep us in line. :)

By the way, I am really, really taken by the bill on that scarf. I don't know if it's the color or the stitch pattern, but I keep trying to reach out and touch it.

I think David would love it and secretly wear it around the house.

OMG....I totally LOVE this scarf, Dana! It is the cutest thing ever! I think David would love it...and I want one for myself!

Cute! I used to crochet before I had cats.

It looks like double crochet in the beak, double or treble crochet in the body. (or if it's a big hook could be single int he beak and double in the body). Hook size unknown. Probably worsted weight yarn which is cheap in chain craft shops and Joanne's. You should be able to sort-count how many stitches (vertical bars) in each row. Since it's a flat piece all increases and decreases are probably at the edges. The contrasting edge on the bead looks like a simple chain stitch edge, and the eyes look like buttons.

Awwww, Walls bb. I know David loved your Nutter Butters- simply just because they were from you. :)

Goodness, violet, you are my hero. Now I just have to figure out how to do everything you just said and I'm set. Thanks! <3
